Today the Goulds invited the us and Butlers to go with them to a rope swing they found off the greenbelt behind Veterans Memorial Park. It was a big pond and pretty nice, much warmer than the Boise River was! It was great fun until we decided to go on the rope swing. Ride #1 Kevin caught the toe of his sandal on the rocks on the bank of the water and just tumbled into the water. Ride #2 he leaped off the hill, threw his whole body weight into the air and SMACK, right into the tree holding the rope swing. Fortunately he held onto the swing and fell into the water and not on the rocks at the base of the tree. Youch!! Needless to say, that was all for the Turners. I didn’t dare try it, and Kevn’s pride and body couldn’t handle another ride!
(What you can’t see is that Braden is naked and LOVING it!)
(Tonight, the stratches just sting a bit, but his muscles are sore, like he’d been in a car crash, or maybe a tree crash? Hehe! Sorry Love!)
The month of July brought lots of firsts for Braden. First tooth, sitting alone for long stretches of time, saying dadadadadada (everything is dada except Dada), and rolling front to back and back to front. Here are some we have pictures of.
First time in the ocean – on his first 4th of July
First bike ride, not fond of the helmet
First solid food, green-beans, sweet potatoes and apple sauce are the favorites
First car trip, 5.5 hours to SunRiver Oregon to visit Mom’s family
First time in a boat and in the lake, loved the life jacket, not the water so much.
Now he’s 6 months old (17.5 lbs, 27 3/4” tall) and I can’t wait to see what August will bring!
I know this is really late, but we just are downloading pictures from our thumb drive onto our laptop. So here they are!
While in California we got the chance to spend the day with my cousin Lisa in Santa Monica, and her husband, Kevin, joined us for dinner later that day. We had a wonderful time catching up with them and shopping in the great stores on the promenade. Thanks Lisa for showing us around! We can’t wait to see you again soon! P.S. You made the cut!
The ocean won. On the 4th of July we went to Santa Barbara to visit the beach and watch the fireworks. It was Braden’s first time at the beach and since he loves to be in the water, we figured he would love the ocean. We were wrong, it guess when you are a little over 2 feet tall, the waves are slightly intimidating, loud, cold and rushing towards you. If you look closely, he wouldn’t put his feet down, it was so funny. But he was a real trooper all day long. He even slept through the entire fireworks show!
When we were in California last week, we had the great pleasure to visit some of our dear friends the Timmons and also the Waters. We went to Manhattan Beach with Luke and Steph on Saturday (thanks Mom and Dad for watching Braden all day!). It was a beautiful day and the beach was sunny and warm, is there anymore one could want? We also got to see their new place in Valencia, pretty nice guys, and spend the afternoon of the 4th with them in Santa Barbara. We loved getting to see you in your new life in California.
We got to spend time with Chris & Elizabeth Waters. Chris took us to the Griffith Observatory which was a great way to see the LA skyline and learn a little about space while we were there. We joined Elizabeth for dinner at Buca di Beppo. So good! It was so wonderful to see you and catch up on life. Hope to see you in Boise this summer!
Braden absolutely is in love with Morgan. He could be fussy and crying anywhere and then he’ll see or hear Morgan and instantly turn his head at her and “light up”. His smile will become huge and you can tell there is no one in the world like his mom. I absolutely love it. Morgan is a wonderful mother and wife and God has blessed me beyond belief with her.
On Fathers Day Kevin got breakfast (fresh blueberry pancakes, bacon, hashbrowns, strawberries, oj and milk) in bed with the Sunday paper. The day before we decided that we were going to go on a picnic with the other Turners, Dick and Joyce and Brian, Eryn and Liam. So after breakfast, we packed up the car, stopped for some fried chicken and potato wedges, and headed for Veterans Park. It was a beautiful day and it was fun watching the boys enjoy themselves. It was so nice we went from there to the community pool in Tuscany near Dick and Joyce’s house. It was so fun taking the little boys into the water! We have little inflatable chairs that will also keep them shaded, so they are completely pampered! What a life! All in all I think a good day was had by all and many fun memories were made and traditions started!
Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers in my life! (and Happy Birthday Joyce!) We love you all.
2 days before Braden’s 4 month birthday we started adding rice cereal to his bottle. He had be so hungry and fussy and no matter how much I nursed and fed with straight formula he was still hungry, and waking up in the middle of the night to eat. And he hadn’t done that since he was 10 weeks old, so we figured we would try it out and see if cereal helped. What a difference it has been! Not only is he happier but he also spits up less when we add cereal to that meal. His doctor thinks he might had esophageal stenosis, hardening of the valve that lets food into the stomach, which results in major regurgitation. But other than that he is very healthy and growing really well! He weighed 15.1 lbs and was 26 inches long at 4 months. Long and skinny, what can I say, just like his Daddy! We have started introducing spoon-feeding which makes more of a mess than I think he gets into his belly, but things are getting better! He’s starting to understand the whole swallowing concept. Good job little man!
