Our poor girl

On Saturday I noticed Roxy limping around and upon further inspection, one of her toe nails had lifted completely off the nail bed. Ouch! I’m not sure how it happened but it certainly looked painful. She also was very protective of that foot but was still running and jumping around so on Monday we took her to the vet to find out what we should do. They pushed it back onto the nail bed and wrapped it up. Now she lays around the house like her whole leg has been amputated! It’s not that it hurts, it’s because now its wrapped. Today she has barely moved a muscle and I almost have to force her to eat, drink and go out to go potty. So silly!

I know, I know, I’m really far behind in my blogging, but give me a break, I’m 9 months pregnant! This year for Christmas, Kevin and I planned to spend Christmas eve with his Grandparents Turner and his aunt, uncle and cousins in from Michigan. It’s always so much fun! One of Kevin’s uncles get everyone an envelope filled with Lotto scratch tickets and we sit and have a blast seeing who was the luckiest that year. Last year it was Kevin and I, but this year we passed our luck on to Brian and Eryn. They were the big winners!

Then we planned on going to my parents house in the morning of Christmas and his parents in the afternoon/evening. But the Sunday before Christmas Kevin surprised me with a wonderful Christmas gift, a trip to Portland with my parents to visit my family over in Oregon and Washington. It was a wonderful surprise and a great gift. So our plans changed to spend the morning with his parents then head to my family for presents and dinner, then off to the airport. It was so wonderful!

Because our sweet little girl licks her feet till they become raw and bleed, Kevin and I thought we’d try to put booties on her, so she couldn’t lick. But as you can see in the video (follow link at the top of this blog), she clearly HATED them! She didn’t want to move, and when she did it was spastic and frankly, hilarious!! We couldn’t stop laughing! We think she has an allergy to something that hits during late fall/early winter. We only had them on for one night and decided that since she was so miserable, we would take them off. But I guess that was enough of an incentive for her to stop licking all together! She’s so scared that we might put them back on that she doesn’t lick! So I guess in a round-about way they worked!
