Two New Looks for the Fall

26 Weeks

And to all that haven’t heard, being a brunette with a bump is totally in this season! Of course being the fashion addict I am (haha!), I decided to play along.

Actually, I wanted to try something new with my hair and since I have always been blonde, I thought I’d try going a little darker. With all the pregnancy hormones in my body, (and I guess hair) the darker color really took. Normally it wouldn’t have been this dark, but I guess those hormones that make my brain and body go crazy, make hair go crazy too! Fortunately the purple didn’t stick! When the dye was still in, my hair was the color of grape juice! Yikes! Kinda shocking, but I’d have to say, very different from the blonde I was sporting before!

All my thanks go to Shannon Butler, stylist to the gods, or wait, that’s supposed to be Shannon Butler, stylist and child of God! Thanks Shan! Kevin and I both love it!

And then there’s the ever growing bump… Braden keeps practicing his karate on my bladder and ribs. He’s certainly developing a strong kick and punch! I’ll allow it for now, but it’s certainly not going to continue after he enters this world!

Ok, that’s all for now. We are leaving for Cancun on Sunday, so we might be able to post some pictures while we are there, or it might have to wait till after we get home. But either way, keep checking back!

Me at 21 weeks. I thought I’d never actually look pregnant. Well, there it is…

It’s a BOY!!

UltraSound_20070919.jpg

Isn’t he beautiful!

Wednesday September 19th Kevin and I went in for our next ultrasound. We were very excited to find out that we are having a boy! From everything we saw he is totally healthy and growing right on target. The ultrasound tech said he had a beautiful heart, hopefully that will mean he will be very sweet once he enters this world. She also said that our little guys leg length is in the 99.6 percentile! He’s going to be a tall boy like his daddy! It was so neat to see him swallowing and moving his arms and legs. I can’t wait till I hold him in my arms and see him move those little arms and legs!

We have also posted a poll for everyone to give their input on what his name will be. Of course we ultimately have the final decision, but we are interested to see what everyone else likes. We already have a middle name picked, so this would only be for the first name. Thanks!

It’s a …

13.5 weeks
…stubborn monkey! As you can see Kevin and I went to the doctors to take another look at the baby and determine if it had certain rick factors associated with Downs Syndrome or any other genetic disorders. They started by drawing my blood to send off. The first nurse missed my vein and felt too uncomfortable trying my other arm so called in another nurse to try. She got my vein but couldn’t figure out why my blood wouldn’t fill the tube. I finally (after she dug around in my vein awhile) suggested they change out the tube, and viola! that was the problem!Next up was the ultrasound tech to get a measurement of the layers of skin on the back of the babies neck. From the moment she put the ultrasound “wand” on my belly to look at the baby, it was standing on it’s head. Literally upside down on it’s head! No matter how much we tried, the little one wouldn’t budge! Since the testing center is pretty picky about the views they need for the test, the tech said she wasn’t going to be able to get what they needed. But, while we were there, she looked around and found 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 hands, 2 feet, a beautiful face, little beating heart, and (the part that grossed Kevin out the most) a full baby bladder! So all in all, very healthy and clearly already showing it’s little personality!

We were hoping to find out what we were having, but she said at this point in the pregnancy, little boys parts can be hidden and little girls parts can be swollen and look a little boyish. And she said she didn’t want to have to go with me to take all my either pink or blue outfits back to the store if the gender later became really apparent and different that what she had originally guessed. Oh well. I guess we’ll keep waiting to know who’s in there. All we know is you are a stubborn little acrobat! We love you little one!

Are you sure it’s not contagious!?

Last week at church I overheard our pastor telling a group of women that there are 7 pregnant women in our church right now. Well, this week one of our best friends upped that number to 8, and those are just the people we know about! There may be more that aren’t announcing yet! But that’s just for our church friends. My Bro-in-Law and Sis-in-Law, Brian and Eryn, are also expecting, 2 days before us! Other close friends Tony and Chrissy Blasick are also pregnant and their due date is about 2 weeks after ours. And 2 weeks before our due date, our friends Shaun and Gillian Greer are due with their first child. So I don’t know what they have been pumping into the water here in Boise, but something is really working! So those of you that aren’t wanting to get pregnant, stay away from Faith Community Bible Church and maybe take a vacation away from Boise. Or if you want to add a little one to your lives, come on over! smile_wink

So yay for morning sickness (aka all day nausea!) and extreme fatigue! Yay for expanding waist lines and generous curves! Yay for heartbeats and ultrasounds! And most of all, yay for this little life God has so mercifully given each of us! To Him be all the praise, honor and glory!

We love you little ones!

12 weeks pregnant
Me (and baby) at 12 weeks!

Babies First Picture

1st US

On Friday Kevin and I went in for my second appointment at the OB’s office and we were thrilled to get to see our little one! We had the Ultrasound first and the tech started with the heartbeat. It was so fast, about 171 beats per minute, which we were told is very healthy. I think that was Kevin’s favorite part of the appt. That little thing that we were hoping was growing and moving in me really does have a heart beat! This is really happening. I know things are changing with him (of course with me too) because he kept talking all night about the heartbeat and being able to see the life that God has given to us as parents.

They said it is a little over an inch long and very healthy. It was so great getting to see the little lets and arms moving and hear the heartbeat. My mom said it has her arms, kinda short little Tyrannosaurus-rex arms! :-) I’m just glad it looks semi-human now, not so much like a tiny whale…

The rest of the appointment was not any where near as exciting as the first part. But was reassuring knowing that the long hours I spend in the pool won’t be affecting me or the baby. Everyone keeps saying that the 9 months will fly by, and I know that I need to be appreciating my last few months without a baby, but I can’t wait for it to get here! I can’t wait to meet it and see it’s little personality! I guess I will be patient and not rush the little guy (or girl!).

Newest Turner…

Well, after almost 3 years of marriage, Kevin and I have decided to change our names…to MOM AND DAD!! We are very excited to say that I am pregnant and we are expecting the new little one January 27, 2008. So far everything has gone very smoothly, I’m a little nauseous and very tired, but overall I’m feeling pretty good.  So for those of you that thought one Kevin and one Morgan in this world were quite enough…sorry!

baby week 8

Good thing they continue developing! I think it looks a little whale-y still. (This isn’t the actual picture of our child, I took the image from a cool web site I have been using called www.babycenter.com. It is a generic image of the average baby at 8 weeks.)

Keep checking back for more updates!
